Protecting Job Seekers in Pakistan: Why Isloo.pk Paused Its Jobs Category

Looking for work is a hopeful moment in anyone's life. It should never come with avoidable risk. Over the past months our moderation team reviewed how job advertisements were being used on Isloo.pk, and we decided to act early rather than wait for harm to occur.

The Jobs category on Isloo.pk is temporarily suspended. It will return after we launch Isloo.pk Business Plans together with an Employer Verification System.

This article explains that decision, what we learned, and how job seekers in Islamabad can protect themselves in the meantime.

Why the Jobs category is temporarily suspended

Most employers who post on classifieds platforms are genuine small businesses trying to hire quickly and affordably. A small number of bad actors, however, can cause serious harm to people who are financially vulnerable.

Free, anonymous job posting makes three problems difficult to solve:

  • No verified identity. A listing can be created in minutes with no proof that the business exists.
  • No accountability trail. If an applicant reports a problem, there may be nothing to connect the advertisement to a real, contactable organisation.
  • Sensitive personal data. Job applications contain CVs, ID details, photographs and home addresses — information that should only ever reach a verified recipient.

Rather than moderate case by case, we chose to pause the category and rebuild it on a verified foundation. Prevention is far more effective than after-the-fact removal.

What we are building before jobs return

The Jobs category will reopen alongside two new systems:

Isloo.pk Business Plans

Employers who wish to advertise roles will do so from a business account with a paid plan. A paid, named account creates a real accountability trail and removes the anonymity that makes misuse easy.

Employer Verification System

Before a job advertisement can go live, the employer will pass documented checks, including:

  • Business registration or trade documentation
  • A verified business address in Islamabad or the relevant city
  • A verified business phone number and email domain
  • Review of the advertisement by our moderation team
  • A published record of the employer's verified status on their profile

Verified badges will be visible to applicants, so job seekers can see who they are dealing with before sharing a single document.

How job seekers can stay safe right now

These habits apply to any platform, not just ours. They cost nothing and prevent most common problems.

Verify the employer before you apply

Search the company name, check whether the registered address exists, and confirm the phone number belongs to the business. A genuine employer will not object to reasonable questions.

Never pay to get a job

Legitimate employers do not charge registration fees, training deposits, uniform costs or "processing" charges. Any request for payment before employment should end the conversation.

Protect your documents

Share your CNIC copy, educational certificates and bank details only after you have verified the employer and received a written offer. Do not send documents over informal chat to an unverified number.

Interview in safe, public, professional settings

Insist on a registered office address during business hours. Avoid interviews at private residences, hotel rooms or unnamed locations. Tell a family member or friend where you are going and when you expect to return, and take someone with you if you feel unsure.

Trust your instincts and keep records

Vague job descriptions, salaries far above market rates, pressure to decide immediately and refusal to meet at an office are all reasons to slow down. Keep screenshots of messages and listings — they help if you need to report a problem later.

Report anything suspicious

If a listing on Isloo.pk looks unsafe, report it from the listing page or contact our team. Reports from users are one of the fastest ways we identify patterns of misuse.

A balanced view

It is important to say clearly: the large majority of employers advertising in Pakistan are legitimate, and most job seekers have positive experiences. Reported cases of fraud, intimidation or harassment during hiring are a minority — but their impact on the people affected is severe, and women in particular have raised valid concerns about unsafe interview settings.

Our response is not to discourage hiring. It is to make the process verifiable, so that honest employers stand out and misuse becomes far harder.

What happens next

While the category is suspended, employers can prepare by getting their business details in order for verification. Job seekers can continue to use Isloo.pk for everything else — property, vehicles, electronics, furniture and local services — with the same safety habits described above.

When Business Plans and the Employer Verification System launch, we will announce the return of the Jobs category here on the blog, with clear rules for both employers and applicants.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Jobs category on Isloo.pk permanently closed?

No. It is temporarily suspended and will return after the launch of Isloo.pk Business Plans together with an Employer Verification System.

Why can't I post a job advertisement right now?

Job posting is paused for all users while we build employer verification. This applies equally to every account so that no unverified advertisement reaches job seekers.

Will employers have to pay to post jobs in future?

Job advertisements will be available through Isloo.pk Business Plans. A named, paid business account is part of how we create accountability and verification.

Should I ever pay a fee to apply for a job?

No. Legitimate employers do not ask candidates for registration fees, deposits or training charges before employment.

How do I report a suspicious listing?

Use the report option on the listing page, or contact our support team with screenshots. Every report is reviewed by our moderation team.
